The image used for this puzzle was a digital photograph emailed to me.  The resolution was very good (1800X2700) and the lighting and image were very sharp and suitable for good sized enlargement.  This puzzle is for the young Pirate lady pictured as a surprise so the puzzle size and piece size is planned to be child friendly.   The image was enlarged to approx 11x16.  The photo service came back with a great image.  Ready to mount on the plywood.

The photo is mounted and the puzzle is ready to start cutting.  The puzzle is planned for a younger puzzle lover so the piece size will be about 2"x2" for about 42 pieces in the puzzle.

The first cuts define a rough piece size and make it a little easier to swing the tall picture around through the blade.
I'm taking care to preserve the integrity of the facial features by planning the location of cuts to minimize distraction.

OK.  Halfway done.  Everything is coming along nicely for our little Pirate.  Time to change blades for a new sharp one.
The little Captain Hook Pirate Patch is cut out as a fun seperate piece.  The strong plywood is taking a little extra time as each piece requires 2 or 3 times as much material to be cut compared to smaller adult piece sized puzzles. On the other hand there will be fewer pieces to cut out.

Completed Puzzle ready for action.  45 fun-sized pieces.     (Click to enlarge)

1/10/07 There's teh Captain.   A careful few cuts guiding the blade to minimize distraction around the face.
1/10/07 A detailed pic of the edge of the Captain Hook Badge.   Maybe a parent can save this piece for the last piece to be placed by the young puzzler.
